Using the Power of History to Transform Lives
Located at the Historic Lampp House
We are sad to report there was storm damage to the Museum.
Justin Stiver and his wonderful team at Total Therapy Florida helped clean the yard and take some of the huge damaged items to the curb. They partnered with the Rotary Club of Englewood, Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary and The Rotary Club of Englewood Sunset to get the Museum clean and dry with fans, dehumidifiers & cleaning supplies. Museum president Betty Nugent was visited by Good Samaritans who also helped out. We also want to give a Big Shoutout to Julia & Jenn who have helped almost every day and gave Betty support & encouragement. They are truly angels in her eyes.
Thank you all for helping #savetheenglewoodmuseum

The New Point Comfort section of Englewood has a new historical marker! Research and application for the marker were performed by Englewood Museum Board Members Don Bayley & Donna Stogsdill. The costs of creating and installing the marker were contributed by James Christman, Stanley Lampp's nephew. The new marker is on Lemon Bay Road adjacent to Bealls in the Merchants Crossing Plaza, Englewood.

Volunteers Wanted
Volunteers Wanted
The historic Lampp House at 604 W. Perry Street is home to the Englewood Museum with exhibits that share the history of Englewood over the past 100 years. The Museum is in need of volunteers. If you are interested or want more information contact us HERE.
You could take part in any of the following:
- Become a Docent. Currently the museum is only open during the high season on Saturdays from 1 to 4. Your participation could enable it to be open on days other than Saturday. Curator Betty Nugent and/or other current staffers will get you up-to-speed. This past Spring we made a video tour of the Museum which will give you much information on the exhibits. 3 hours a month is all that would be needed.
- Help with our popular golf cart tours in Englewood Village on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am during the high season. If you are up to it, drive the cart and/or narrate the tours!
- Assist with our annual Strawberry Shortcake event which invites the public for tours of the museum provides for a pleasant afternoon.
- Take part in History Week at Elsie Quirk Library, a presentation that shares the lives of Englewood Pioneers, and is well attended.
- Volunteer at our booth at the annual “Fly In” at Buchan Airport. Often with 30 private planes flying in from across the state, we are there to share the story of the first woman of flight, Harriet Quimby, who received the first pilot’s license for a woman in the USA.
- Develop new exhibits or enhance the current ones. There are many artifacts in the museum, those of the early inhabitants on the shore of Lemon Bay: arrowheads, pottery chards and seashells. Also, military items brought back from wars fought overseas and memorabilia from Englewood’s past as a fishing village.
The Englewood Museum is an important resource for our unique HISTORIC VILLAGE and provides a wealth of information with exhibits on the pioneers who helped knit together the fabric of Englewood's social and historic history so the present generation can appreciate the contributions of those who came before. If you are interested in joining our crew or want more information contact us HERE.
