Montys_Stories_FRONT_COVER01_900_edited.

It all started with an online Facebook group called "Remember in Englewood When...." Here posts by Monty Birdsey were unique. His recall was remarkable. And he was prolific. When you read story after story you felt you were right there next to him growing up in the 50s and 60s.

We asked Monty if he would like to put his writings together into a book. He loved the idea, especially as a family remembrance. Sadly, just a few weeks later, Monty, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer, passed on.

The Museum published this book as a tribute to Monty and all who grew up in Englewood in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Monty tells his stories in his own words without flare or fanfare. When you read the stories, you will come to know his love for family, friends and community. His writing style provides a window for the reader to learn about small town life in mid-century America.  Pick up a copy at the Museum for a donation of $20.
